An hourly rate
Usually quoted for two movers and a truck. Ours is $159.50/hr inc GST. Most Brisbane operators sit between $130 and $180.
A minimum charge
Ours is two hours, then 30-minute blocks. Minimums exist because a short job still costs a full crew call-out. Single-item deliveries are the exception — see below.
A travel fee
Covers the drive to you and back to base. Ours is $88 inc GST within 25km, $137.50 for 25–50km, $181.50 for 50–75km. Beyond that we quote the job individually.
When does the clock start? Ours runs from arrival at pickup to the last item placed at delivery. The drive between your two addresses is on the clock; the drive from our base to you is covered by the travel fee, not billed hourly. Worth asking any removalist directly — it is where quotes differ most.

Quoted hourly — three-bed homes vary too much for a fixed price to be fair either way.
A single item, white goods or a marketplace pickup. The two-hour minimum does not apply to these. They are priced as a flat job from $220 inc GST, depending on the item, the distance and the access at both ends. A fridge to a ground-floor unit ten minutes away sits at the bottom of that range; a heavy item up two flights on the far side of town sits well above it.
What makes a move cost more.
These are the things that turn a five-hour job into an eight-hour one. Most of them you can control.
- Stairs. Your first 20 steps are free, then $25 inc GST per flight (a flight being 12 steps or a landing). High-set Queenslanders are the classic Brisbane case.
- The garage and the under-house. The most under-reported space in every quote. People list their rooms and forget four cubic metres of tools, paint tins and camping gear.
- Not being packed. If boxes are not sealed when we arrive, we are packing on your dollar. Being genuinely ready is the biggest saving available to you.
- Lift bookings. If the lift is not booked and you are waiting on a building manager, the clock is running. Book it a week out.
- Parking and access. A long carry from the street adds up. So does circling the block. Save a park out front if you can.
- Weekends and public holidays. We add 15% on weekends and 30% on public holidays. A Tuesday move is genuinely cheaper than a Saturday one — everywhere, not just here.
- Heavy items over 100kg. Pool tables, safes and similar are priced individually and confirmed before booking, never as a surprise on the day.
